Frank Schweitser holds a bachelor in Social Nursing (EHB) and a master in Philosophy and Moral Sciences (VUB). Currently he is enrolled as a doctoral student at the department of Philosophy and Moral Sciences. In his qualitative research, he focuses on the way healthcare workers in psychiatry are looking at the possibility of euthanasia for psychic suffering. Another focus is on the assessment of decision-making capacity in psychiatric patients with a request for euthanasia. Professionally he is active as a head nurse in palliative care in the Center of Expertise W.E.M.M.E.L. 'Waardig Levenseinde' that is connected to the UZ Brussel. His principal fields of interest are ethics of psychiatry, ethics of palliative care and ethics of end-of-life decisions.
