On September 24th, 2020, Sandra Meeuwsen successfully defended her doctoral dissertation 'Kritiek van de sportieve rede'. The defense took place in a unique, first-time "hybrid" format: partially online, partially face-to-face.
Sandra, jury member Martine Prange (Tilburg University) and a live audience were at the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam, from where a live stream was broadcast through Microsoft Teams. The rest of the jury members – Bart Vanreusel (KU Leuven), Sonja Lavaert, chair of the jury Yoni Van Den Eede and supervisor Marc Van den Bossche – participated "virtually," as did a big audience of interested online listeners.
