Workshops on the early reception of Spinoza's political philosophy

Two workshops on the early reception of Spinoza’s political philosophy are organized at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

Thursday 25/11 Wiep van Bunge (Erasmus University Rotterdam) will lead a close reading of Pierre Bayle and give a talk on ‘Spinoza and his critics’. Thursday 16/12 Winfried Schöder (Philipps-Universität Marburg) will lead a close reading of Jakob Thomasius and give a talk on ‘Spinozism, Semi-Spinozism, and Anti-Spinozism in 17^th and 18^th century Germany’.

Each part of the workshops is freely accessible. Interested participants for the close reading will receive the text beforehand. The talks are open to a wider audience.
