Gily Coene
Biography
Gily Coene received a PhD in Moral Sciences from Ghent University (2004), with a dissertation on gender and migration. As a postdoctoral researcher (2004-2006) she worked at the Centre for Intercultural Communication and Interaction of Ghent University and at the Centre for Research in Ethnic Relations of the University of Warwick. Since 2006 she is affiliated to the Department of Philosophy and Moral Sciences at the VUB, in the context of the 'Leerstoel Humanistiek'. She also teaches 'Gender, Diversity and Politics' at the Department of Political Science and is a member of RHEA, the research centre for Gender and Diversity at the VUB. Her research focuses on normative issues related to gender and the multicultural society, humanism, secularism, and diversity.
