Despite a growing interest in empirical methods in philosophy and the increasing number of young researchers who do practice-oriented research, there is still a lack of educational support and no access to a stable peer network in the Low Countries. The Philosophy in Practice (PiP) symposium connects early career- with more established researchers to discuss the opportunities and obstacles that practice-oriented philosophy entails. This in-person symposium has as its aim to stimulate further collaboration and build a sustainable support network of interdisciplinary philosophers.
The symposium brings together keynote talks by leading scholars in the domain and a selection of “flash talks” by early career researchers, combining fresh perspectives with more established approaches. During an interactive workshop in smaller groups, participants will discuss questions such as: which (qualitative and quantitative) methods can be used to enhance philosophical analysis? How do we assess the quality of empirical-philosophical research? But also address the specific challenges and obstacles early-career researchers are met with in bringing philosophy in practice.
