On May 23rd, 2025, you are warmly invited to the event: 'Philosophy, Critique, and 'AI' (PCAI) Meets #1'. On this day, early-career researchers working on the themes of philosophy, critique, and big data technologies are gathering at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) to present their research.

On March 28th, 2025, members of the Centre for Ethics and Humanism (ETHU) will present their work in progress and research.

We would like to invite you to an online workshop with Jason Read on his recently published book The Double Shift: Spinoza and Marx on the Politics of Work (Verso, 2024).

This workshop will consist of two introductory lectures by Prof. Dr. A. Andronico (University di Catania) on Schmitt's political and legal theory and close reading sessions of his “On the Political”.

Human migration is more and more said to be one of the many social consequences of climate change. The common refrain is that climate change will bear on patterns of human mobility, resulting in insecurity, political instability and humanitarian crises.

Five ETHU-members (Judith Campagne, Julia Eckhardt, Frédéric Kamran, Jan Jasper Mathé, Thomas Van Binsbergen) currently doing a PhD will be presenting their research. This is a great opportunity to join as a research group and engage in (philosophical) dialogue on ongoing research.

A reading circle will take place on February 12th at 16h. During this reading circle, Judith Butler’s The Force of Nonviolence: An Ethico-Political Bind  (2020) will be discussed.

A new edition of the annual French Connection seminar will take place on the 9th of February. This year, the seminar will consist of three lectures, respectively on Deleuze, Guattari, and Latour.
